Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! While we certainly shouldn't need a holiday to remember to be thankful to He who created everything and who provides everything and to be thankful to one another, it certainly can't hurt right? One of the things (of many, many things) I am thankful for this year is the awesome year that Marvel has had! They have released some quality comics, blown up the movie theaters with blockbusters, and most importantly this year, they've launched their first TV show on ABC called Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.!
You can catch it on ABC every…I don't know what night it's on. I catch it on Hulu Plus.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. follows the exploits of Agent Phil Coulson (yes he's alive!) and a special team of agents from the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division following the events of Chitauri invasion in New York from The Avengers movie. Now that Americans know that not only are there super humans and Asgardians, but there are also aliens from different galaxies that mean to do Earth harm, the team of misfits is tasked with making sure that no (potential) threats of the "supernatural" kind put America in harm's way.

From L to R: Skye, FitzSimmons, Agent Phil Coulson, Agent Melinda May, and Agent Grant Ward

So what's good about the show? So much! First, it's produced by Joss Whedon which means automatically and following in suit of The Avengers, the characters have great dialogue and chemistry with each other. This show excels at building the relationships of a misfit team learning to get along and work together a la The Avengers. Secondly, the casting: Not only is it amazing that some how Agent Coulson is back, but Clark Gregg is back to play as Coulson! So everyone who loved him through Marvel's Phase One of movies (I know I did)) can enjoy him every week. Personally, my favorite is Agent Melinda May who is played by Ming-Na Wen! I love it when Asian actors/actresses get major roles on big shows (sue me. I'm Asian.), and she plays her role as the veteran agent no one wants to mess with, with supreme authority. Thirdly, the cameos!!! Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill in the first episode, and my main man Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury in the second episode makes me excited for potential cameos in the future (maybe the Avengers?). And lastly, the show references and connects to the Marvel movies as they are released. Last week's episode "The Well" happens right after the events of Thor 2! How brilliantly genius is that?! This show is nine episodes in and it is just great, a super recommended watch. This show is one of the reasons why it's justified that Marvel/Disney is a great team up and why they make so much money. If they keep on making quality TV shows like this, they may just take over the TV screen as they have the movie screen.

Speaking of more quality TV shows…did y'all hear about a Daredevil TV show on Netflix? this is nerd overload and although exciting, quite frankly, another post for another day.

Once again, Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Hope that you get to spend it with someone you love and that God pours out all of His blessings as you celebrate today! You could have a marathon of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.!
