Nerd Life: The Compton Initiative

This past Saturday some of our church members and I had a chance to go out to the city of Compton to serve the community through small beautification projects. We've been joining the Compton Initiative on their quarterly service days for the last few years and every time it has been a blessing to see just how much God works through the willingness of a few people (well 2-3 thousand to be exactish). Anyways, Sometimes it's houses, sometimes it's churches, and sometimes it's schools. In any case, the projects vary from cleaning, to painting and this past Saturday we were blessed to be able to paint a church in the community.

I realized that my Gundam building has helped me with painting. Yes I said it, Gundam has learnable benefits in real life. The systematic meticulousness one must have to cut out pieces cleanly and in order is the same that one must have in painting walls properly. The perseverance and patience to wait out for  the end result is also important in both Gundam and painting. But the way that painting trumps Gunpla is that with painting you can serve other people, and it was great as always serving.

Are you interested in serving with the Compton Initiative? They can always use more people. Visit them at www.justdogood.org for the next service day. And I hope to see you there!

Blessings~!
