More than being a nerdy movie, it's a me movie. As a Christian I am incredibly curious as to how this movie will turn out and how Biblically accurate it will be. At least casting will not be an issue with Sir Anthony Hopkins, Emma Watson, and A Beautiful Mind alums Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly starring in the film. In theaters March 28th.
Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier
The first Marvel movie this year is the sequel to 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger. Captain America 2 looks more epic and all around better than the first movie. It also has a much more serious tone than the first. The Captain is introduced to the Winter Soldier this time around and is joined by Nick Fury, Black Widow, and newcomer hero Falcon. With Robert Redford playing the government higher up that makes Steve Rodgers question his morals, we get to see who the villain truly is this time around. In theaters April 4th.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
The second Marvel movie releasing this year is a Sony Studios effort. The first Amazing Spider-Man was pretty good having a much better tone than the Toby Maguire Spider-Man, and Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone also have better chemistry. This time the main villain seems to be Jamie Foxx's Electro with a sprinkling of the Green Goblin, but the trailer also seems to show Rhino. Hopefully, this movie doesn't turn out like Spider-Man 3. In theaters May 2nd.
Godzilla
A gentleman at Frank and Sons the other day was telling me and a friend that this Godzilla is harkening back to the sci-fi/horror genre of yore (and that the one with Matthew Broderick was crap). I love the story premise of Japanese A-bomb testings were used to try to destroy Godzilla back in WWII and now it's back. I love it even more that the one tasked to deliver the bad news is Heisenberg himself: Bryan Cranston. This movie is going to be great. In theaters May 16th.
X-Men: Days of Future Past
Dude...if you haven't seen the trailer for this yet, go to youtube and watch it. Honestly, I really want this movie to be good. I mean X-Men: First Class and The Wolverine were great compared to the original trilogy, but with the cast from the original trilogy coming back (I'm looking at you Halle Berry with awkward haircut, I'm not talking about Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen) I'm not sure. Luckily the trailer with the lone piano in the background and Professor X, Magneto, and Wolverine's dialogue pretty much sells a movie ticket in my book. But I'm not promising any of us will walk out saying we liked it lol. In theaters May 23.
Transformers 4: Age of Extinction
I know a lot of you out there wish the first three movies didn't happen much less a fourth. I on the other hand thought the first was good, second was bad, and third...except for the casting woes was a good movie. The fourth honestly doesn't promise much with the franchise having to use an all new characters and bringing in movie veteran Mark Wahlburg as the main character. As far as visuals and action goes, I'm not expecting anything new, but one thing we should all be excited about: DINOBOTS. In theaters June 27
Stay tuned for part 2 where we'll go over the latter half of the year!
