Doctor Who Goodies!

Have y'all seen Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor? You see that finger play, those intense eyes, the low hanging jacket, and the DOC MARTINS? Looking very punk! This doctor is going to be great! I think Capaldi will bring a mad scientist with a gangster twist. Very exciting!
Goofy eyes and spirit fingers makes a great doctor.

Nerd Builds: HG Gundam X Maoh

Hi nerds! This is the first day of Spring Semester post of Nerd Builds. Today's build is another Gundam from Gundam Build Fighters series, but this time it's rival builder Yasaka Maoh's Gundam X Maoh. This is a high grade, 1:144 scale model and it was much more fun and cool looking than I expected. As a matter of fact, it is one of the funnest and coolest looking hg models I have built yet. He is a stunner! Hope you enjoy!

Comic Book of the Week for 1/22/14

This week's comic comes from Jason Aaron's "Wolverine and the X-Men" issue 40! It's another comic book that I have been wanting to rave about for awhile…and now I have featured almost every X-Men comic book on CBotW. So if you remember that there was a schism in the X-Men (aptly named "Schism"), and Wolverine took over the east coast Jean Grey School of Higher Learning while Cyclops walked away with the uncanny half of the X-Men and started another school at the old Weapon-X facility. Wolverine and the X-Men features the adventures of the new generation of mutants being trained by X-Men faculty members and Wolverine as the headmaster. Things between Wolverine and Cyclops have been shaky since Cyclops under the influence of the Phoenix Force killed Professor Xavier (A vs. X saga).

It's too bad this series is ending soon, but all the more reason to catch up on a great read!

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

Yes it occurs to me that it may be a bit late reviewing this movie that's over a month old, but isn't it true that only after a month, we have all but forgotten that we had this movie viewing experience? What does it really say about the second installation of The Hobbit? This was the one big holiday movie that I saw, and I was expecting more from it after the somewhat mediocre showing that the first Hobbit had. Rearing up to write this, I was half nervous and half excited at the prospect of writing a controversial review on the movie (because I didn't think it was all that great), but I realized that stating that it wasn't stellar, and don't get me wrong I had fun watching it, but the sentiment of disappointment might not be so controversial after all.

Was LOTR this forgettable?

Nerd Builds: MG Sword Impulse Gundam

Happy Martin Luther King Day Nerds! Let's remember the importance of civil rights and fighting with love for the cause of social justice became something we Americans can appreciate thanks to this man. Today's Nerd Build features only my second master grade build, and my new favorite looking Gundam. This master grade Sword Impulse Gundam from the Gundam Seed Destiny series is an absolute gangster (Even if the main character who pilots it is the most detestable Gundam pilot ever)! The colors are so vivid, and the sword silhouette flyer is awesome. Anyways, let the pictures speak for themselves…and the captions also.

Nerd Life: Finally, a Vacation, Stay-cation, and a Retreat All Rolled Up Into One

This week was the week that I have been waiting for since half way through fall semester, a legitimate time to rest and relax. Last semester was filled with changes in job status for Mrs. Nerd and medical treatments amidst school and ministry. Even as winter vacation came, we were busy with getting the youth group kids ready for their Christmas program, finalizing the winter retreat, going to winter retreat, family functions (which sometimes tend to be more of a chore than something one does on vacation), New Year's Eve service, and finally the New Year's vision early morning worship (that's a mouthful even in my head). Which brought us to this week. Finally, true vacation, and I did not hesitate to retreat myself from the world, praise the Lord. Here were a few things I enjoyed this week:

Thanks to Young and Elise for this Star Wars edition Moleskin! So thankful to the Lord for thoughtful friends.

Comic Book of the Week for 1/15/14

This week's comic is one I have been waiting to praise for a very long time (2011, when this volume first started), Daredevil #34. This comic is written by Mark Waid with artwork by Chris Samnee and was the recipient of 2012's Eisner Award which is very prestigious in the comic book world. Since its beginning it has been without a stray month my very favorite monthly pull.

Nerd Builds: HG Neo Japan G Gundam

Yesterday and today I've been on a detailing building binge since it's been my first real week of vacation where I've had really nothing to do. So today's nerd build is Neo Japan's G Gundam from the G Gundam series. This is personally one of my favorite Gundams and one of my favorite Gundam animated series. So this high grade model was more of a labor of love than anything and it was thoroughly enjoyable.
I started with the torso.

Nerd Builds: Mega Scale Gundam AGE-2 Normal

Today's Nerd Build is Asamu Asuno's Gundam AGE-2 Normal from the Gundam AGE series. What makes this model special is that "MEGA SIZE MODEL" label on the bottom left corner of the box. That means this Gundam is 1:48 scale which turns out to be (you'll see) quite big. Now y'all might remember that I tried to build this back when I had my first gunpla party but failed because of the missing part. It finally came in and I am happy to report that it was worth the wait!

This might look like a HG kit, but it's actually freaking massive.
